Gardaí investigate as man and woman shot in front of boy in Offaly

A man and woman have been shot in front of a seven-year-old boy at their home.

Gardai said the man was making his way into a house on the Cluain Darach estate in Tullamore at about 7pm last night when the attack took place.

The man, aged 32, and a woman were wounded and suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Gardaí said a gunman jumped from a car outside the house and fired shots as the man was entering the house with the boy.

It is understood the child is the woman’s seven-year-old son.

A car believed to have been used in the attack was later found burned out in Durrow, Co Offaly.

In a separate attack, two brothers were targeted by a gunman in Dublin.

The men, aged 21 and 25, were shot at as they left a flat on the Cromcastle Court estate in Coolock at around 10pm last night.

Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

One of the men was shot in a leg.

Gardaí have issued an appeal for any witnesses to either incident to contact them.
