Gardaí are investigating reports that a man was forced into a car by three men in Co. Louth.

Gardaí are investigating reports that a man was forced into a car by three men in Co. Louth.

Officers say they got a number of calls about a man being forced into the back of a Toyota Avensis on the Ardee Link Road (N33) at around 5.30pm yesterday evening.

Witnesses told Gardaí that a silver Mercedes car was travelling towards the M1 when it was rammed from behind by the grey Toyota Avensis.

Three men were then said to have forcefully removed the driver of the Mercedes into their vehicle before driving in the direction of the M1.

The man was released a shortly afterwards and did not need any medical attention.

Gardaí in Ardee are appealling for anyone who was travelling on the Ardee Link Road between 5pm and 6pm yesterday to contact Gardaí at Ardee on 041 6853222, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
