Two people have been charged with a serious assault in Dublin.

A 20-year-old man is fighting for his life in hospital after he was attacked by a number of people on St Dominic's Road in Tallaght at 4am on New Year's Day.

A 23-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman have been charged with serious assault.

A second man, aged 20, has been arrested.

Gardaí are asking anyone who may have been in a fast food restaurant near the Square in Tallaght from around 2am, and who may have information, to contact them.
