Gardaí carrying out forensic examinations of homes near scene of Dublin murder

House to house inquiries are underway following yesterday's murder in Tallaght, Dublin.

Forty-four-year-old Karl Holmes was beaten by a number of men at Avonbeg Gardens just before 5.30pm last evening.

When Gardaí arrived Mr Holmes was found unconscious on the street before being treated at the scene by paramedics and removed to Tallaght Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The scene is sealed off and a number of houses are being forensically examined.

A post mortem is expected to be carried out on Mr Holmes' body later today.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to get in touch.
