Two men remain in Garda custody this morning following a robbery at a filling station in Blessington in Co. Wicklow last night.

Two men remain in Garda custody this morning following a robbery at a filling station in Blessington in Co. Wicklow last night.

The men held up staff at a service station at around 10.05pm and made off with a quantity of cash.

One of the men was armed with a sword-like object and the second with a handgun. The men left the scene in a car.

The two men, aged 30 and 40, were arrested by gardaí on patrol in the area and the handgun, sword, clothing and cash were recovered in the car.

The scene at the filling station has been preserved for a technical examination.

The two men were arrested and are currently detained at Bray Garda Station and the car has also been seized.
