A man has been arrested over a hit-and-run incident in Dublin on Friday night in which a woman died.

A man has been arrested over a hit-and-run incident in Dublin on Friday night in which a woman died.

The 40-year-old pedestrian was fatally injured when she was struck by a car which failed to stop in Drimnagh.

A man in his 30's is being questioned by Gardaí at Sundrive Road Garda Station.

He was arrested in the Drimnagh area last night.

Gardaí are still trying to find the car involved in the incident which drove off in the direction of the Naas Road.

The 40-year-old woman was crossing the road at Golden Bridge Luas stop at the time she was struck.

There have been reported sightings of the car, described as a dark coloured, possible Ford Focus and either 08 or 09 in the Fontfill Road, Newlands Cross, Nangor Road and Firhouse areas.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Gardaí at Sundrive Road station.
