Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a shooting incident in county Cavan last night after a man in his 20's was injured.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a shooting incident in county Cavan last night after a man in his 20's was injured.

It happened at a house in Lisdrumskeagh in Shercock just before 10pm.

It is believed one shot was fired when the man was confronted at the front door of his house by two men armed with a handgun.

He was taken by ambulance to Cavan General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries and has since been released.

The area was sealed off while gardaí carried out a technical examination of the scene.
