Gardaí in Cork are appealing for witnesses after a 21-year-old man was critically injured when he was hit by a car yesterday.

Gardaí in Cork are appealing for witnesses after a 21-year-old man was critically injured when he was hit by a car yesterday.

The incident happened at around 1.30am yesterday morning as the man was walking on the main N25 Cork to Midleton dual carriageway.

Gardaí believe he had walked down a slip road from Carraigtwohill when he was hit.

The driver of the car, a young woman in her 20s, was uninjured but was badly shaken and was treated for shock at the scene.

The man who is originally from the Carraigtwohill area, remains in a critical condition in Cork University Hospital.
