Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a fatal collision in Co Clare yesterday evening which claimed the lives of two men.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a fatal collision in Co Clare yesterday evening which claimed the lives of two men.

The collision - involving two motorbikes - happened outside of Lisdoonvarna on the Ennistymon road at approximately 6.45pm.

Both men were fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene.

A female pillion passenger was also taken to Galway University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The road was closed overnight while gardaí carried out a forensic examination and local diversions are in place.

Witnesses are asked to contact the gardaí in Ennistymon on 065 7072180, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.

UPDATE: Motorists in Clare are advised the Ennistymon road has reopened.
