Gardaí in Cork are appealing for witnesses to a fatal road crash yesterday evening which claimed the life of an 82 year old local man.

Gardaí in Cork are appealing for witnesses to a fatal road crash yesterday evening which claimed the life of an 82-year-old local man.

The pensioner, named locally as Abraham Busteed, was killed in the collision which happened on the main Bandon to Kilbrittain Road at around 6pm yesterday evening.

A post-mortem is scheduled to take place this morning.

The road remains closed and diversions were put in place overnight to allow a Garda forensic crash investigator carry out an examination of the scene this morning.
