Gardaí investigating an aggravated burglary at the home of a pensioner in Cork are appealing for witnesses.

Gardaí investigating an aggravated burglary at the home of a pensioner in Cork are appealing for witnesses.

A 68-year-old man returned to his home on the Cross Douglas Road at around 4.30pm yesterday, to find a male intruder inside.

A struggle ensued, in which the man sustained a head injury and what is believed to be a stab wound to his lower body.

He was taken to Cork University Hospital, where his injuries are described as non life-threatening.

The suspect escaped with a computer and camera equipment.

Gardaí in Douglas are appealing for information.
