Gardaí are appealing for help from the public in relation to the murder of 81-year-old Michael Crowe.

Gardaí are appealing for help from the public in relation to the murder of 81-year-old Michael Crowe.

Michael died at his home in Pairc Mhuire, Newbridge, Co. Kildare on October 4, 2009.

At approximately 6am a loud bang was heard and a fire broke out in the Crowe family home. Michael’s family, who were in the house at the time, managed to escape however Michael was unable to do so. He died of injuries sustained.

Since the incident, An Garda Síochána have taken nearly 700 statements, carried out hundreds of separate lines of inquiry.

"Today we are again seeking the assistance from any member of the public who may have any information which may assist in this investigation into the murder of Michael Crowe," said Inspector Mel Smyth at Newbridge Garda Station today.

"We would appeal in particular to anyone who may have been in or around Pairc Mhuire estate on the morning of Sunday 4th October, 2009 between 2am and 6am to contact us.

"All information will be treated with the utmost confidentiality and we urge anyone who has any information even if they believe it to be insignificant or trivial to get in contact with us at Newbridge Garda Station at 045 440180, The Garda Confidential line at 1800 666111 or any Garda Station."
