Garda search over 300 people in ‘Operation Spire’

304 Garda searches have taken place this week in a strategy aimed at tackling anti-social behaviour and drug dealing in Dublin city centre.

Operation Spire began on Monday and is an ongoing initiative by Gardaí where uniform patrols work alongside plain-clothes personnel to target drug dealing and anti-social behaviour on O’Connell Street.

In the first four days, 304 suspect searches took place with 42 detections for possession or supply of drugs and 99 behavioural warnings issued.

This is a follow on from a previous initiative aimed at O’Connell Street and is part of an overall strategy to address anti-social problems in the capital.
