Garda Inspectorate report to make 'over 200' recommendations

The Garda Inspectorate has set out more than 200 recommendations for streamlining the investigation and management of crime in a report to be released in the coming days, it has been reported.

The report, which is due to be released on Tuesday, also suggests reform of management structures in An Garda Síochána.

The Sunday Times says the Inspectorate examined more than 150 incidents over three years and found that some crimes were not recorded on the computerised Pulse system.

In other cases, the investigation found evidence to suggest that gardaí didn't respond to certain types of crime, including reports of domestic violence.

Draft copies of the report have already been presented to the Minister for Justice Frances Fitzgerald and the acting Garda Commissioner Nóirín O'Sullivan.

The Garda Síochána Inspectorate is an independent statutory body tasked under the Garda Síochána Act, 2005 with inspecting and reporting on the operation and administration of An Garda Síochána.
