The Garda Commissioner is due to speak in front of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Justice later today.
Noirín O'Sullivan is expected to answer a wide range of questions in relation to the force, on issues such as training, rural crime and the Provisional IRA.
Committee member, Sinn Fein TD for Donegal North East, Padraig McLoughlin has said he has a number of issues to raise with the Commissioner.
“I have asked that the issue of closure of Garda stations is discussed, 139 Garda stations; the Garda Representative Association who represent the vast majority of gardaí say that this is a real issue in terms of impacting on tackling crime,” Mr McLoughlin said.
“And also the issue of cross border class force which is being called for by the two policing services in the island and the revenue organisations tackle the scurge of cross-border criminality.”
