The terms of reference for the quality improvement plan at Tallaght Hospital will be announced later this morning.
Management at the hospital have been told that it has two weeks to produce a Governance and Quality Improvement plan aimed at providing safe patient care.
The Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) made the order following recent scandals at the facility, which saw over 58,000 X-Rays going unread by a consultant radiologist and thousands of GP letters unopened.
HIQA is to hold regular performance monitoring meetings with the board to assess how it and the HSE is dealing with the X-ray backlog.
The terms of reference for the review, which will be chaired by Dr Maurice Hayes, will be announced at a press conference in Dublin later this morning.
