Funding commitment ends Learning Centre pay dispute

12/06/2006 - 08:17:07
Employees of the National Learning Network have resolved a dispute over pay with the agency's management.

The dispute has been on-going since May 2001, when the workers demanded that their pay be brought in line with industry standards.

Last year, the Labour Court recommended a pay increase of 8.7%, but management failed to implement it, claiming FÁS and the HSE had not provided enough funding.

The workers were planning to mount a protest march today to highlight the situation, but that has now been cancelled following a commitment late last night that the necessary funding will be forthcoming.

Management has also agreed to make retrospective payments to all employees.
