Four men are due to appear in court this morning following an investigation into burglary reports in Monaghan.

Four men are due to appear in court this morning following an investigation into burglary reports in Monaghan.

At around 7.30pm on Saturday evening, Gardaí received reports of suspicious activity in the Rope Walk and Belgium Park areas of Monaghan town.

When they arrived on scene, Gardaí saw a number of males leaving a house at Rope Walk.

They fled into nearby fields and after a chase, which included the Garda air support unit, four men in their late teens and early twenties were arrested.

A car was also seized.

The four men are due before Monaghan District Court this morning.
