Four HMV stores to reopen within weeks

Four HMV stores, three of which are in Dublin, will reopen by the end of the first week in September.

120 jobs at the stores have been filled, with roughly 70 of them given to original employees of the chain which went into administration in January.

Hilco bought and restructured the Irish stores and will reopen an initial four of the 16 original stores within the next fortnight.

The stores to reopen shortly are at Dublin's Henry Street, Liffey Valley and Dundrum Shopping Centres, and Crescent Shopping Centre, Limerick.

Managing Director of Excel Recruitment, Barry Whelan, said they were delighted to see ex-HMV staff coming back.

"We recruited most of those who re-applied," he said.

"Jobs were in different locations, and obviously there were more HMV stores originally, so there was more people than would fit into four stores, obviously."
