A well-known Irish dancing teacher, ordered to pay €400,000 to a student he sexually abused, fraudulently transferred property to his wife, the High Court has found.
Michael Quigley gave Alice Quigley the family home at Barnhill Park in Letterkenny and another property in Co Donegal to avoid paying damages to his victim Dana Doherty.
Dana Doherty, now aged 44, was a very successful Irish dancer who was abused as a child by her teacher Michael Quigley.
He was not convicted in criminal proceedings but in 2011 he was ordered by the High Court to pay her damages of €400,000.
The judge ruled that she had indeed been sexually abused by Quigley. He had always denied the charges.
Dana Doherty is still owed the money as her former teacher - now aged in his 70s - transferred two properties to his wife.
Those transactions have been found to be fraudulent in a High Court ruling today.
The Quigleys have indicated they will appeal that decision.
