Former Central Bank governor to appear at inquiry
The former governor of the Central Bank, John Hurley, is appearing before the Oireachtas Banking Inquiry this morning.
He will be asked about the Bank and his own role in the run up to and during the financial crisis.
Chair of the inquiry, deputy Ciaran Lynch said Mr Hurley will also be asked to outline what actions if any, the board of the Central Bank took.
"What were the main accountabilities and responsibilities of his period as Governor, and what was the role of the board of the Central Bank during that time?" Lynch said.
"We'll also be raising questions with him as to what sight of the upcoming crisis did the Central Bank actually see, and what actions, if any, did they take."
