Former Apollo House resident died on the streets of Dublin

One year on from the Apollo House sit-in, it has emerged one of the former residents died on the streets of Dublin.

Activists who took over the derelict building on Christmas week last year say government promises were broken.

The Irish Housing Network said while a small number have seen improvements, one person died during the Autumn and others are facing into another homeless Christmas.

Freda Hughes explains where the residents are now:

"Others did find six-month beds and have progressed on, some are now living independently, others didn't find the beds they were placed in suitable but managed with the help of friends through Apollo," she said.

"Of course, we do know as well that one of the former residents of Apollo actually died since Apollo house and others have ended up in dire situations - back to addiction, back on the streets," she added
