Floods forecast for Leinster, snow predicted in the North

There is an orange weather warning for the North, and a yellow warning for Dublin for this evening.

The newly introduced weather alert system from Met Éireann tells us to look out for snow blizzards in Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal.

They have also forecast widespread heavy rain, spot-flooding, and gale force winds for Leinster.

Forecaster Harm Luijkx said Dublin will escape the snow, but it is going to be a wet one.

He said: "The winds are going to be gale force, south-east winds, probably strong, gale force at sea and the rain is heavy as well.

"It is going to go on later this afternoon and for the Dublin area it is going to be this evening and tonight. It will be intense during the night and there will be some spot flooding as a result.

"In the morning tomorrow, there will be pretty wet roads with some surface water."
