Flood-hit areas braced for more rain

28/11/2009 - 08:26:58
Those living in flood-hit areas are bracing themselves for further rain.

High tides are also expected next week in Limerick and Clare.

Emergency chiefs warned yesterday that the next four days would be crucial.

Around 700 homes in Limerick were advised to boil their water last night amid health fears.

Limerick County Council put a precautionary boil water notice in place after talks with health chiefs.

The move affects around 2,000 people.

Engineers say they are concerned because of the recent heavy rainfall and flooding.

It is not known how long the boil water notice will remain in place but it is expected it will be for several days.

Meanwhile, Fine Gael is reiterating its call for an early-warning system.
