Flood defences in place as Galway prepares for high tides

Flood defences are in place in Galway City in anticipation of high tides this weekend.

Galway City Council says the critical times are this morning at 7am, tomorrow morning at 7:30am and Sunday at 8:20am.

Flood defences have been put in place at Spanish Arch and Toft Park, in an effort to alleviate any issues.

Drivers are advised not to leave vehicles parked in Toft car park overnight or around the times of high-tide.
