Fishing boat detained in the Irish sea

A fishing boat has been detained in the Irish sea this evening.

The Le Orla was conducting a routine fisheries protection patrol this afternoon when it came across the vessel, and detained it and its crew.

The boat and approximately half a dozen crew members arrived in port at Howth at about 6pm, where they were handed over to Gardaí.

An investigation is continuing.

The industry has been under the media spotlight this week following allegations of poor treatment of illegal workers on board boats.
