First round of college offers out this morning
The wait is over for many Leaving Cert students as the first round of college offers are out this morning.
Thousands of third-level hopefuls received their Central Application Office offers at 6am this morning online and they will be posted later today.
The closing date for acceptance of CAO round one offers is at 5.15pm on the evening of Monday, August 26.
For those who do not get their first choice offer today, the round-two offers will be made on Thursday, August 29.
A helpline has been set up for any queries students may have on 1800 265 165.
Ian Power from youth website spunout.ie said that students still need to go back to doing some homework.
"The key thing really is that if you have been offered a course that may be further down your CAO list and one that you may not have researched as well as your top choice, make sure that you do some research as to the content of those courses, and into the institution … before you accept any offers, because there is a possibility that you can make a rash decision which you regret," he said.
"Unfortunately, when you accept an offer, there's no turning back."
