Fine Gael want drink driving cases reviewed

Fine Gael has called for a review into how dangerous driving cases are being dealt with.

Fine Gael has called for a review into how dangerous driving cases are being dealt with.

It was reported today that up to a quarter of those who are charged with dangerous driving are being let off the hook.

Problems serving summons means thousands of cases are being withdrawn or struck out at district court level.

Those who have escaped prosecution include people who change address, give false addresses, or have a migrant lifestyle.

Fine Gael Justice spokesperson Charlie Flanagan said today people charged with offences cannot be allowed to walk away.
