Fianna Fáil to issue statement on Mahon after party meeting

Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin has said that the party will issue a detailed statement on the findings of the Mahon tribunal following meeting of its Officer Board scheduled for this evening.

"Fianna Fáil has this morning received a copy of the Mahon Tribunal Report, which is currently being reviewed in detail," Deputy Martin said.

"We welcome its publication and are currently studying the report and its findings and we will be making a considered response."

It was revealed that Deputy Martin has written to the clerk of the Dáil to ask that the report be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions for consideration.

The party has also tabled a Special Notice Question in the Dáil this morning.

Fianna Fáil TD Dara Calleary said the report is starkm, and he is personally disappointed by the findings within.

"The findings are very serious," he said.

"The language is very stark.

"Personally I am incredibly, incredibly disappointed… but we will issue a full response… following this evening's meeting, outlining our plan of action."
