Fianna Fáil has said it will create a serious and organised crime unit in Dublin to tackle gangland activity - if elected to power.

The Party is also promising to build 15,500 social houses in the Capital.

Fianna Fail has said it will introduce a "use it or lose it" policy to prevent dormant land banks from accumulating in value.

Senator Daragh O'Brien has said tackling crime in Dublin will be a high priority for the Party: “We’ve seen unfortunately very very recently serious gangland crime, murders within our city and county.

“As that has happened this Government has taken 700 guards away from Dublin.

“On additional garda resource, specifically for Dublin. We are committing to 700 additional guards, Dublin public order unit, and a Dublin transport police.

“This needs to be tackled our citizens deserve to be safe.”
