Fianna Fáil are calling on the Minister for Health James Reilly to implement the recommendations in a new report on reducing costs in the private health insurance market.
The independent report asks for financial penalities to be imposed for people who do not take out health insurance until they are over 30.
It says young people should be encouraged to take out health insurance policies and is recommending reduced health insurance premiums for people under 30.
Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Health, Billy Kelleher, says the Minister needs to move quickly to implement the findings of the report.
He is also calling for the introduction of a lifetime community rating.
