The Fennelly Commission has "debunked" the Opposition's claim that the Taoiseach sought to sack the Garda Commissioner, Leo Varadkar has said.
Health Minister Varadkar said the Government accepted the findings of the interim report published yesterday in full.
It found the Enda Kenny did not force Martin Callinan to quit, but that the Commissioner's decision to retire was a direct result of a top civil servant being sent to his home.
Leo Varadkar said Justice Nial Fennelly was the only person who spoke to every person involved in the controversy, and that his conclusions were very clear.
"The only person who interviewed all of those people was judge Fennelly, and his findings are very clear," he said.
"His finding is that the central charge made by the Opposition that the Taoiseach sought to sack the Garda Commissioner - he has found that was not the case. He has debunked that."
