A new report shows farm incomes increased by 32% last year to a record level.

The Teagasc National Farm Survey says there was an average earning of almost €25,000, with farmers benefiting from favourable market conditions for dairy and beef products.

However the study shows that 20,000 or 21% of farms make less than €5,000, while 15% earn more than €50,000.

The report also shows there was a 20% reduction in farm business debts in 2011, falling to a total of €1.8bn.
