Family of a Dublin woman launch medical negligence action in High Court

The family of a Dublin woman have launched a High Court action alleging her death was the result of medical negligence.

Susan McGee died on July 24, 2013 less than two weeks after having surgery to repair a hernia at the Hermitage Clinic in Dublin.

The 52-year-old from Skerries Road in Rush had been admitted for the elective surgery on July 13 and discharged three days later.

She became unwell overnight and was re-admitted to hospital the following day before her condition then deteriorated.

She underwent surgery on July 22 and the next day the mother-of-two was transferred to Beaumont Hospital, where she died.

Earlier this year, an inquest returned a verdict of medical misadventure in her case.

A summons has now been issued and served on the Hermitage Clinic.
