Figures from the worlds of sport, politics and broadcasting joined family and friends of Jimmy Magee in Kilmacud, Dublin today for the funeral of the RTÉ sports commentator.

Figures from the worlds of sport, politics and broadcasting joined family and friends of Jimmy Magee in Kilmacud, Dublin today for the funeral of the RTÉ sports commentator.

Former Olympians including boxers Michael Carruth, Bernard Dunne and Kenneth Egan, as well as rugby player and pundit Tony Ward and swimmer Michelle DeBruin, travelled to the Church of St. Laurence O'Toole to pay their respects.

Former colleagues including Micheal O'Muircheartaigh, Marty Morrissey and Tony O'Donoghue were also seen at the ceremony, as well as Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin.

Known as the 'Memory Man', Magee commentated at 11 Olympic Games and 12 World Cups.

The veteran broadcaster passed away last Wednesday, aged 82, having been ill for some time.
