Failure to complete Census form will incur fine up to €44,000

Householders across the country are being reminded to have their Census form complete and ready for collection today.

Everyone present in the country was legally obliged to fill out the form last night.

Collections will be begin today and continue until May 23.

Anyone who refuses to fill out their Census form faces a fine of up to €44,000.

Deirdre Cullen from the Central Statistics Office has said enumerators will be calling from Monday to collect the form.

"Have it ready for them, make it easier for them," she said.

"If anybody has any difficulty filling it out, if they've lost their form, if it ended up in the recycling, any problems at all, we'll be manning the phones. Call us on 1850201604 and we'll send an enumerator out to your house."
