Fáilte Ireland has disputed a new survey which places Dublin at number 12 on a list of most expensive cities in the world.
The average night out will set visitors back more than €260, according to TripAdvisor. The rankings based on cost of night out for two with cocktails, meal, taxi and hotel
The €264.22 total cost is comprised of two dry martinis at €26.72 , two taxi fares at a total of €15 and €150 for the hotel. Dinner for two, including wine, is valued at €72.50.
But Fáilte Ireland spokesman Alex Connolly said there was value for money in Dublin.
"We may have been quite expensive during the Celtic Tiger years," he admitted, "but in the last six or seven years, value for money has returned.
"Dublin offers a very good combination of good prices with very high quality."
The Irish Hotels Federation said TripAdvisor's conclusions did not reflect the value available in Dublin hotels.
"The research carried out is based solely on the prices for rooms found on Tripadvisor and does not reflect the broad range of rates actually available in the market," a spokesman said.
