Fugative killer hands himself in
24/11/2009 - 16:08:06A convicted murderer who has been on the run for more than a week handed himself in today.
Police initiated a man hunt last Monday when Jonathan Peter Neill (aged 34) absconded in the North.
He was living in the community as part of a phased release scheme from Maghaberry Prison, Co Antrim, when he disappeared from the Cookstown area.
Neill was convicted of murdering a lodger who was living with his parents in 1991 when he was 16 years old and also has convictions for burglary.
A spokesman for the Prison Service said he handed himself over to authorities voluntarily this afternoon.
He has now been returned to Maghaberry Prison.
