Taoiseach visiting flood-hit areas

The Taoiseach Brian Cowen is visiting the worst affected areas in the flooding crisis today.

Mr Cowen will meet people in Cork, Clonmel, Ennis, Gort and Ballinasloe to witness the devastation first-hand.

Boil water notices are still in place in parts of County Cork and people are being asked to conserve water.

Insurance claims arising out of the flooding could top €100m.

However, insurance companies say it is too early to put an exact figure on it.
