16% increase in number of pedestrians killed in accidents


There has been a sharp increase in the number of pedestrians killed on Irish roads.

According to the Gardaí and the Road Safety Authority, 42 people have been killed while out walking so far this year, a 16% increase on the figure for 2009.

The RSA is urging people to take extra care while walking in the current conditions.
