34,000 public servants serve 3.5% pay claim on Govt

SIPTU has served a pay claim on the Government for 34,000 public service workers for a 3.5% pay increase.

The raise was agreed as part of the Towards 2016 national agreement and due on September 1, but public sector pay was frozen earlier this year.

The professions include paramedics, nurses and manual grades in all State-funded hospitals and institutions.

SIPTU has sanctioned industrial action if the HSE refuses to engage with it on implementing the increase.
