A number of explosive devices have been discovered at a disused quarry in Midleton in Co Cork.

A number of explosive devices have been discovered at a disused quarry in Midleton in Co Cork.

Gardaí made the recovery this afternoon, as part of their ongoing investigation into the theft of metal in the North Cork area.

During a search at the disused quarry, a small quantity of old type commercial explosives were found and made safe by the army bomb disposal team.

Investigations are continuing.
