Exchequer: Property tax take as expected, but VAT and Excise fall short
The Government took in another €12m in property tax last month, bringing the total collected to €191m, according to Exchequer figures.
August saw Revenue begin the process of deducting the tax from people's salaries.
Exchequer data for the first eight months of the year show the tax take for the Coalition was broadly in line with expectations, and spending is under control.
However, there is a continuing shortfall in income from VAT and Excise Duties which may be of concern to Minister Michael Noonan in the run-in to next month's budget.
