Exams won't be disrupted by industrial action, UCC says

University College Cork says student exams will not be disrupted as a result of industrial action.

Staff at the Tyndall National Institute have served notice that they are to picket the research body and college campus next month in a row over pay parity.

Members of SIPTU and IFTU have informed the University of their intentions ahead of four days of action in May.

It follows a long-standing row which has been the subject of negotiations at the Labour Relations Commission.

The institute will be picketed on May 6-7 and 13, but Director of Human Resources at UCC, Barry O'Brien, said: "UCC will ensure that all exams will take place as per their schedule, and there will be no disruption whatsoever."
