Eurozone leaders need to keep banking promises - Kenny
The Taoiseach said Eurozone leaders should stick to the commitments they made on banking union – and that it is very important to Ireland that they do.
In June last year, the leaders promised to help Irish banks using the EU bailout fund, and Enda Kenny said today it is very important to Ireland that these promises are kept.
"For Ireland - and for other countries - it is absolutely critical that we follow those things through to completion, before moving on to any other agendas," he said.
"I want to say that we've done quite a deal of work in relation to banking union, but it's quite important for this country and for others that that process be completed."
The Taoiseach said he will raise the issue and Ireland's planned exit from the bailout programme at a European summit in Brussels over the next two days.
