European Commission warns Ireland about mortgage arrears

The European Commission is warning that slow progress in dealing with the mortgage arrears will damage Ireland's recovery.
In its winter forecast it predicts that Ireland will be one of the best performing economies in the EU this year.
It is predicting growth of 1.1%for Ireland this year and has welcomed the recent deal on the Anglo promissory note.
However, it warns that resolving non-performing loans remains crucial to reviving domestic demand, and warns that unemployment will remain high in the years ahead.
