EU funding has been granted for those who lost their jobs in Waterford Crystal.

Some €3.8m is to be made available under the EU Globalisation Fund to help the 593 people who were made redundant with the closure of the iconic manufacturer.

The money can be spent to re-train, re-educate or up-skill those who were left jobless.

They can also receive money to help them in starting up a new business.

The funding got the green light at the European Parliament in Strasbourg today when MEP’s voted in favour of the allocation.
