ESB working to restore power as yellow weather warning remains in place

Around 1,900 people are without power in parts of the south east and south west of the country this morning.

Repair crews are working to restore electricity after several lightning-related faults were reported.

The ESB says it hopes to have the situation resolved by lunchtime.

They said around 1,500 customers are without power in the south-east, with Enniscorthy and Arklow the worst affected.

Around 400 are without power in the south west where Killarney and Bandon have been affected the most.

Meanwhile, a yellow weather remains in place this morning, as thundery downpours continue to affect many parts of the country.

Gerald Fleming, head of forecasting at Met Eireann, says there will be further downpours today.
