The ESB has confirmed it will not release further water at the Parteen Weir this evening.

The Parteen Weir controls the flow of water into Ardnacrusha power station further downstream and affects counties Clare and Limerick.

Earlier, the ESB released 10% more water than usual to alleviate pressure at Ardnacrusha

Nicholas Tarrant from the ESB said that while flooding increased in the surrounding areas, no more water would be released tonight. Further discharges will only be made in daylight hours so that people can see the impact immediately.

Meanwhile, Galway to Dublin rail services are fully operational again following the reopening of the line between Ballinasloe and Athlone.

Bus transfers continue on the Sligo line from Longford to Carrick-on-Shannon due to flooding. Disruption is expected for the rest of the week.

The line between Limerick and Ennis is closed due to a landslip, but bus transfers are in place.

The Arklow to Gorey line remains closed for embankment strengthening and DART services between Dalkey and Bray will be suspended from 7pm this evening.

Dublin Bus will accept rail tickets for customers affected.
