ESB replaced 2,000 poles after Darwin damage

ESB Networks has said only a few customers will remain without electricity following storm Darwin this evening and all remaining faults should be fixed by tomorrow.

In the aftermath of the storm 280,000 homes and businesses were left without power with crews carrying out hundreds of repairs.

Faults around Fermoy, Dunmanway and Killarney were cleared this afternoon and it is hoped that Tralee, Tipperary and Newcastlewest will be cleared by tonight, however a few may spill over to tomorrow.

Since storm Darwin hit last week ESB Networks replaced approximately 2,000 wooden poles and 500 transformers in order to restore power to customers.
